Bassa Toscana
The Bassa Toscana company was founded in late 2000. Based in Auxerre, Burgundy, it aims to showcase the region's heritage and history. Bassa Toscana offers a unique cultural experience, grounded in both historical and heritage knowledge and the power of imagination and dreams. The costumes are recreations of 15th, 16th, and 17th-century engravings. The traces left by the treatises of da Piacenza, Ebreo, Négri, Caroso, Arbeau, and de Lauze have enabled the recreation of period choreography.
Bassa Toscana offers creations, balls, dance concerts, event entertainment, lectures, workshops, and classes for children and adults that highlight the strong link between past and present, between heritage and the modern world. Through the discovery and practice of Renaissance and Baroque dance, Bassa Toscana aims to reveal the richness of French heritage in order to strengthen social cohesion and bonds around artistic and historical values.
