La Danse Ancienne
The earliest written records of dance date back to the 15th century. Historical sources, ranging from the late Middle Ages to the early 17th century, are the tools used by the Bassa Toscana Company for reconstruction and re-creation.
The link between fidelity to texts of the past and freedom of interpretation constitutes the original cultural offering of the company.
The transition from the Renaissance to the pre-Baroque period, where choreographic references are insufficient or incomplete, provides a space for creation for choreographers Bernadette Jacquet and Stéphane Quéant, thus linking the past to a future world through their feelings as performing artists.
The desire to transmit heritage and the art of today's stage gives Bassa Toscana its capacity for creation, training and cultural action.
